About this Course

Applications are currently open for Behaviour Management Specialist Candidates for Summer 2025. This position works directly with individuals with special needs. Qualifications: - 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities. - 2 years previous experience working with challenging behaviours or individuals with disabilities. - Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification. - Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check. - Provide personal care (toileting, feeding and changing) and lifts and transfers as needed. - Ability to support staff during swim. - Safe Management certification/Non-Violent Crisis Prevention certification is an asset. - High Five, Principles of Healthy Child Development certification. - Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle. - 2 years of post-secondary education in the field of Social Work education, Recreation related discipline, or equivalent knowledge and experience in therapeutic recreation Rate/Hour: varies Inclusion Camp Assistant I $18.70 Behaviour Management Specialist $20.03 Location: City Wide Schedule: varies Responsibilities: - Provide daily direction and support to inclusion camp staff, and other camp staff as it relates to participants with challenging behaviours. - Assist with the development and delivery of a training program for inclusion and camp staff. - Provide leadership, guidance and resources to summer camp staff, inclusion staff and volunteers. - Assist in the assessment of special needs campers; maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians; ensure that all documentation is completed and circulated to appropriate staff. - Assist in developing rapport with participants with behavior or with a mental health illness and participants with disabilities, their families, professional and support staff, and various levels of staff from community centres.
